Cabrini House has won praise from the Care Quality Commission after inspectors recently rated the renovated home number 2 as providing a ‘GOOD’ service.

Cabrini House is Diagrama Foundation’s home for adults with learning disabilities, based in Orpington. It comprises three separate homes managed by one staff team who provide residential care and day activities for adults who have a range of special needs.

The inspection, carried out last month, examined all aspects of care in the home, from safety and effectiveness to care and management.

The inspector noted that residents felt safe living in the home and found staff to be supportive and kind. One relative told the CQC: “They are safe there, the staff are caring.”

The report recognised staff efforts to provide a variety of meals to suit all tastes and needs and that residents were encouraged to make healthy choices and to get involved with menu planning.

Residents told the inspectors that Diagrama staff were “kind”, “nice” and “friendly”. One relative added: “There is a very caring atmosphere. I’ve seen staff use lots of encouragement and thought with the people they care for.”

Inspectors heard how independence was encouraged and residents felt they were treated with dignity and respect.

A good sense of team work was noted and staff also contributed to the inspection, praising the management and development of the service since Diagrama took on Cabrini House in 2014. One staff member said: “Things are more organised with Diagrama than before; they brought us up to date.”

This is the third of the three homes at Cabrini House to receive a ‘GOOD’ rating from the CQC.

Michelle Dyne, Cabrini House manager said: “We are delighted that the CQC has recognised the efforts of our dedicated team here by awarding house 2 with a ‘Good’ rating.

“We are very proud of our team and the excellent care they provide to our residents. We look forward to developing our work further at Cabrini House so that we can ensure our residents always receive the best care and are able to lead fulfilling lives.”
