Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all those in our care at all times. Our policies, processes and procedures are based on our wealth of experience in dealing with those who are most vulnerable in our society.

These mechanisms are externally validated through external inspection by the Care Quality Commission and follow the principles of the Warner Report “Choosing with Care”.

This is a recognised standard for ensuring that organisations recruit, select and appoint staff with the right qualities to work with children and vulnerable individuals. We also ensure that we comply with all relevant legislation as well as the code of practice published by the Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

Our residents have a right to protection. The procedural guidance for staff clearly demonstrates the systems required to protect them and minimise the risk of abuse.

Staff act like any good parent would, following procedures that the safeguarding policy outlines. All staff are made aware of and have access to a copy of the local safeguarding procedures. Training is given to all staff during their induction period.

Safeguarding procedures are discussed in supervision, team meetings and management meetings. Any issues of protection are given highest priority and advice is sought from relevant professionals (both within and external to Diagrama).

Training is provided for all staff in the prevention of and recognition of abuse and dealing with disclosures. The safeguarding policy can be accessed by a person, body or organisation involved in the care or protection of an individual within the home and a copy can be made available via post, email or a hard copy is accessible in the staff office policy file.
